Xbox One exclusive Scalebound cancelled
Microsoft Studios has revealed that they have cancelled Scalebound, an Xbox One exclusive action RPG developed by Platinum Games.
Microsoft confirmed by the cancellation via the following announcement:
After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for “Scalebound.” We’re working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year, including “Halo Wars 2,” “Crackdown 3,” “State of Decay 2,” “Sea of Thieves” and other great experiences.
Scalebound was an action RPG where you control a player who is accompanied by a dragon. In the game, players would fight enemies, and issue command to the dragon, which assisted you in the game.
It is interesting to see that directly under the cancellation announcement, Microsoft Studios talked up their other upcoming Xbox One exclusive titles. The list of other exclusives also does a good job of highlighting the limited number of Xbox One exclusives, especially when compared to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One’s main competitor.
Scalebound was first announced at E3 2014, and despite the game receiving a lot of attention from the media and fans, the game was delayed on several occasion. The number of delays could have been a major factor in its cancellation, as development was probably not going as smoothly as planned.
