A brief preview of some Nintendo 3DS games

Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 3D

Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 the latest in the pro evolution soccer series is now on the 3DS. The Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 like Ridge Racer 3D has issues with the 3D as blurring does appear in the game at points, but as with Ridge Racer 3D you can get a sweet spot with putting the 3d slider on the half way mark. Controls wise the game is solid with the buttons not over complicating the game play which is good to have in a fast flowing game. The gameplay is strong but while not improving on the play of the soccer based franchise, but improvement is in my opinion not 100% required for this game as the gameplay is strong as I previously mentioned.

To summarize Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 3D is a solid title and reiterates the good gameplay that the Pro Evolution Soccer series offers.

Pilotwings Resort

Pilotwings resort is a family orientated game with the use of miis. Pilotwings resort is basically a scaled down wii sports resort game. Pilotwings resort allows you to fly a plane, glide or use a rocket pack to either free fly around the map or compete in the mission mode which has a few types of games with the demo version being basically a time based game where you must go through rings and for every one you miss you loose points and when you reach the end your score depends on the time it took and how many rings you went through. Pilotwings resort uses the Nintendo 3DS streetPass in this game to full effect which allows users to transfer your top scores to other players who play Pilotwings resort.

To summarize Pilotwings resort is alright game and hopefully there will be more mini-games in the full version.

Lego Pirates of the Caribbean

Lego Pirates of the Caribbean is the continuing increase of lego based game. Lego Pirates of the Caribbean is a fun action adventure game. In Lego Pirates of the Caribbean you can recruit people to your squad and you can interchange the character on screen on the fly to make use of their talents for example Cpt. Jack Sparrow’s talent is with the pistol so he can help you with ranged based problems. The game has multiple challenges with one being trying to open a locked door which saw you needing to change characters and take control of a dog.  You can also built objects like in many Lego themed video games. The controls are solid but I did find attacking to be a bit confusing with myself getting my buttons mixed up and forgetting what the draw weapon and attack button was. The 3D effects were difficult to notice and didn’t feel to make the game stand out.

To summarize Lego Pirates of the Caribbean is an enjoyable action adventure game with fun challenges in between fighting. But unfortunately the controls could be better or a little tutorial to help you learn the controls better. Also the limited 3D effect felt poor.
