2014 StarCraft 2 World champion arrested
South Korea’s E-sports association, KeSPA has announced that the winner of the 2014 Starcraft 2 WCS, Lee “Life” Seung Hyn (19), has been arrested for match fixing.
When the news of Life’s arrest originally broke, KeSPA only stated that Life was taken into custody at the Changwon District Prosecutor’s office. However, it has now been confirmed South Korean news outlet daum.net that Life was indeed arrested for match-fixing, according to the site, Life has been suspected of fixing, at least, five games including a match during the SKT Professional League 2015 Season 1.
Life is currently a member of Afreeca Freecs and was previously part of StarTale (now named Afreeca Freecs) and KT Rolster. When playing in matches Life race of choice is Zerg, are a biologically advanced, arthropod alien race that uses a swarm mentality to overpower enemies. As a Zerg Life has won numerous Korean and International tournaments, tournament victories include 2014 StarCraft 2 World Championship, 2014 DreamHack Bucharest, Season IX Intel Extreme Masters Taipei, and 2013 MLG Winter Championship.
Despite the confirmation of Life’s arrest, there are no further details available on the matter.
