E3 2013 press conference list

On June 9, 2013 by Ash Meehan

It wouldn’t be E3 without the major companies showing off their latest and greatest games and consoles. Here is a list of E3 2013’s major press conferences, and their start time.

The first company out the blocks were Konami on June 6th. It was a nice way to start E3, with Konami focusing on their new games. They also had the first major reveal of the conference with them revealing that Kiefer Sutherland would be the new voice of Snake for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

Microsoft kicks things off on June 10th at 9: 30 PDT/ 17:30 GMT

With the Xbox One reveal and the non gaming aspects of the system out of the way, Microsoft are now free to talk about games. With 15 Xbox One exclusives in its first year, with 8 of the 15 being new franchises. Microsoft should have more than enough games to keep us happy.

Apart from the exclusives Microsoft will likely show off some multiplatform games. The most likely multiplatform game on display will be Call of Duty: Ghosts.

It will be interesting to see what the Xbox One exclusives are, and to see how many of them are Kinect only games.

EA 13:00 PDT/21:00 GMT

It will be interesting to see what EA will show us at their conference this year. The most likely games are Battlefield 4, several different sports games including FIFA 14 and Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall. Hopefully EA will have some surprises such as Mirror’s Edge 2, which has DICE and EA have being hinting at for a while now.

I’m hoping that EA give us some information regarding the deal with Disney to make Star Wars games. I want to see and hear what Star Wars games EA plan to develop. Will they finish Star Wars 1313, restart Star Wars Battlefront 3, or scrap those games and make brand new Star Wars games.

Ubisoft 15:00 PDT/23:00 GMT

Honestly, I don’t know what to expect from Ubisoft. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Watch Dogs and Splinter Cell: Blacklist will more than likely make an appearance, but what else. I guess we’ll all just have to tune into the livestream to find out.

Sony 18:00 PDT/2:00 (June 11) GMT

Well this conference will more than likely be all about the PlayStation 4. The conference will likely open up with Sony revealing the look of the console, and hopefully some clarifications about how pre-owned games will work on system etc.

Just like Microsoft, I say there will be a focus on first and third party games.
I’m interested in seeing what Square Enix will announce at the conference. We do know they are working on a new Final Fantasy game for the PS4, but what will it be? The most likely candidate has to be Final Fantasy XV (which may or may not be a Final Fantasy Versus XIII with a different name). Square Enix won’t be the only third party developer at the conference, Bungie will be there showing off the first gameplay trailer for their upcoming shooter, Destiny.

The PlayStation Vita will more than likely be talked about at the conference too. The handheld hasn’t had stellar sales and it also has very few games that make people want to buy it. Hopefully Sony will announce some games that will make people want to play the handheld.

I mean I have a Vita and honestly I haven’t come across or played any stellar games on it apart from Persona 4 Golden (upgraded version of the PS2 game) and Black Rock Shooter: the game (a PSP game that is playable on the Vita).

Finally, I’m going to hope for something crazy like Sega showing off the English version of Hatsune Miku project Diva f. I know the odd of it are basically 0, but as a Vocaloid fan I would love to see it.

That is it for the Monday conferences. There is only one last major conference and that is Nintendo. Well Nintendo’s isn’t really a traditional conference. Nintendo will be doing a Nintendo E3 direct special.

Nintendo, June 11th at 7:00 PDT/15:00 GMT

All I want to see is Nintendo show off some first and third party games that will make me want to buy the Wii U. I have considered buying the console several times, but when I look at the games on offer I always decide not to buy it.

Nintendo will likely show off the Wii U exclusive Bayonetta 2 and the new Smash Brothers. It would be good to hear about a Legend of Zelda HD game, I remember seeing a video demo off it at E3 2011, but I haven’t heard anything more about it since.

With regards to Nintendo’s handheld the 3DS, I say will learn a good bit more about Pokémon X/Y. It would be good to finally learn what the new Pokémon type will be in the game.
