The second Homefront map pack has being announced

On July 20, 2011 by Ash Meehan

Earlier this week THQ announced the second map pack called “The Rock” for their first person shooter Homefront which is about what is left of the United States military trying to fight back the occupying forces of the Greater Korean Republic (GKR).
This new map pack comes hot on the heels of the first map pack finally being released on the PC version a month after the Xbox 360 version and believe it or not the Playstation 3 version is still yet to receive the first map pack but it was announced that it will finally get it between August 2 or 3 (better late then never I suppose). But enough enough about the first map pack, let’s talk about the upcoming map pack.

The second map pack will be called “The Rock” and will feature 2 all new maps and 2 existing map getting Team Deathmatch areas. The map pack is supposed to be about how the forces are moving to take back San Francisco from the occupying forces of the GKR and the map pack reflects that.

The 2 new maps are:

  • Alcatraz – America’s most infamous prison becomes the site of fierce close-quarters fighting.
  • Bridge – A combined arms effort to secure the North Tower of the Golden Gate Bridge and surrounding area, large scale warfare at its best (This is likely the area we saw in the final mission of the single player campaign). I kind of look forward to this map.

The 2 existing maps which will be getting Team Deathmatch areas are:

  • Waterway – Wage war atop storefronts and in the streets of the Spillway, where every inch feels like a mile.
  • Overpass – Battle in a fan-favorite Ground Control space for the first time in Team Deathmatch.

This map pack will be available for download first for Xbox 360 users for a limited time and it will retail for about 400 MS Points. There is no ETA for the map packs release date.
