During E3 2018, Square Enix announced that they would be teaming up with Capcom for a Final Fantasy XIV and Monster Hunter: World crossover.

The crossover, which is scheduled to take place this summer, will see the Final Fantasy XIV players take on the “King of the Skies”, Rathalos, and interact with a lone Palicoes, in Monster Hunter: World players will take on the imposing Behemoth and encounter a Cactuar.

This is not the first crossover/special event to hit Final Fantasy XIV. Previously the MMORPG has done crossovers with Dragon Quest X, Final Fantasy XI (twice). Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, and Yo-Kai Watch.
