During the latest Letter from the Producer Live, Naoki Yoshida, director for FFXIV, announced that level boost and scenario shortcut items will be available for purchase from June 16th.

The level boost, known as Job Level-boost items, will allow players to raise the level of a single job to level 60 and it will be available for purchase on the Mog Station for $25/£18.50/€21.75 when it is released on June 16th. Players who purchase the item will also receive a full set of level 60 gear (including weapon), all job quests complete, all actions learned and hall of the novice access granted. The Job Level-boost item will be limited to one per account until patch 4.1.

The Scenario shortcut items are a catch up item that allows people to complete all main scenario quests in A Realm Reborn or in Heavensward. This shortcut item is designed for players who wish to catch-up to friends or wish to get to the latest tier of content sooner. The Scenario shortcut items are split into two types “Tales of Adventure: A Realm Reborn” (allows you to skip scenario quests up to patch 2.55) and “Tales of Adventure: Heavensward” (allows you to skip scenario quests up to patch 3.56). The A Realm Reborn shortcut will cost $18/$13.32/€15.75, and the Heavensward shortcut will cost $25/£18.50/€21.75, both items will be available on the Mog Station from June 16th. Players who purchase either of the shortcut items will receive a Chocobo (randomly generated name given), Grand Company Enrolment (set to starting city-state), completion of Main Scenario Quests, Completion of select side quests, and the Unending Journey (all cutscenes viewable from your room).

The upcoming inclusion of these items was always seen as something that would likely happen as the amount of story content to traverse to get to the current patch story can take anywhere from forty to one hundred hours. So, with the game’s second expansion –Stormblood– on the horizon it makes sense to add an item that will allow newer players to try and get to Stormblood content as soon as possible. I am in the same mind regarding the level-boost item, as this item will grant new players’ access to Stormblood as soon as it becomes available.

In the end the two new real-money items exist to retain new or return players as it allows them to gain access to what will be the most recent patch.
