Ace Combat returns, during last night’s PlayStation Experience, Ace Combat 7 was announced for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR.

While seeing a new Ace Combat game is a delight for me, what made the announcement even sweeter was the fact that the official Ace Combat twitter stated “Welcome back to the Strangereal!” For those unaware, Strangereal is the name of the alternative universe/Earth the majority of the Ace Combat games are set in. It was feared that the alternative universe setup of the Ace Combat franchise had been abandoned in favour of the real world following the release of the last console Ace Combat game, Ace Combat Assault Horizon. With the return to Strangereal, I can’t wait to see the next over the top and impractical plane combat sequences the game will offer.

In addition, as you can see from the first paragraph of this post, the game will have PlayStation VR support, which may make for some interesting first person aerial combat.
