Jagex has announced that their 5v5 online block based shooter, Block N Load, has gone free to play following a recent update to the game.

The move to a free to play model comes less than a year after the game’s release back in April 2015, according to Jagex’s official press release the made the game free to play because the players wanted it. “We know from working together with our amazing player community, that the vast majority of our players wanted Block N Load to be a free-to-play game, so that’s what we’ve done!” the press release explained.

The move to free to play also saw a number of new additions to the game. These include as daily challenge system, upgradable perks, new rewards system, hero rotation, and enhanced mechanics that include improved matchmaking.

The game also features a dual currency system: Gold bars and platinum bars. Gold bars are acquired by playing the game and are used in combination with the new rewards system, unlocking perks, and more. While Platinum bars, which can be purchased directly through the game, allow you to buy new heroes, skins and more.
