Nordic Games has today announced it has acquired the rights to “Nexus” from HD Publishing. Only one Nexus game was ever released, Nexus: The Jupiter Incident in 2004.

Nordic Games didn’t have much to say regarding the acquisition of Space-RTS, but in today’s press release Reinhard Pollice, Business & Product Development Director at Nordic Games hinted at the fact they are planning to make a sequel to Nexus: The Jupiter Incident by stating, “We hope to start working on a sequel in the near future.”

While, Nexus: The Jupiter Incident was mostly considered a niche title with Nordic Games themselves stating, “We think that Nexus was one of those heavily overlooked, hidden gems in the niche of Space-RTS.” The game, however, found popularity within the mod community with fans adding or converting the title into a game featuring ships from popular sci-fi shows such as Stargate, Babylon 5 and Star Trek.

While Nordic has stated they have plans for a sequel, I would be surprised if ideas of a HD remaster haven’t been tossed around Nordic.
