Sony Online Entertainment has announced that the closed beta for the PlayStation 4 version of their free to play MMOFPS, PlanetSide 2, will begin on January 20th.

According to SOE the beta will start with a few thousand initial invites, but the amount of players with access will steadily increase throughout the beta. Players will be invited to the beta in chronological order of when they signed up. If you haven’t signed up, you can do so by heading to the PlanetSide 2 PS2 on PS4 page.

SOE has also released a “PlanetSide 2 for the PlayStation 4 – FAQ”. The FAQ reveals that there will be no cross-platform play between PC and PlayStation 4 users, it also reveals that SOE plan to support remote play on the PS Vita, but this feature will not be available until after closed beta.

It seems like the long wait for the release of PlayStation 4 version of PlanetSide 2 is finally reaching a conclusion. As a person who enjoyed the PC version, but couldn’t really play for a long period due to my computer not being powerful enough to run it smoothly I cannot wait for the beta to begin.
