To celebrate the upcoming Japanese 20th anniversary of the Tales of series, Namco Bandai Games has announced, Tales of Zestiria for the PlayStation 3. Tales of Zestiria also has the honour of being the first game Tales of game to be simultaneously announced in Japan and throughout the world.

Makoto Yoshizumi, ‘Tales of’ Chief Producer from NAMCO BANDAI Games Inc. explained why the company decided to announce the game to the whole world at once and not in Japan first, “In recent years we have received anticipation for the series not only from Japan, but from overseas fans as well. Because of this I feel that the Tales of series has more potential than ever before. For this reason we are taking this opportunity to announce Tales of Zestiria as a worldwide release. This title will be going back to the roots of the series and boldly exclaim to the world ‘this is TALES OF!’”

In the announcement press release we got a short paragraph of what to expect from Tales of Zestiria. The press release said the following:

In this brand new adventure, players will delve into a grand storyline and discover the “zest” of adventure with brand new characters, magical lands and action-packed gameplay that the ‘Tales of’ franchise is known for from fans around the world. Tales of Zestiria™ returns to the series roots of a fantasy setting with character designs being handled by all four series designers; Mutsumi Inomata, Kosuke Fujishima, Daigo Okumura, and Minoru Iwamoto. ufotable Inc. will also return to create the game’s animated cut scenes and opening movie.

While Tales of Zestiria doesn’t have a release date it is likely the game will not be released until 2015 as that is the franchises Japanese 20th anniversary. However this doesn’t mean that the game will be released in Europe and North America in 2015 too.

While we won’t see the game until at least 2015, there are other Tales of games being released in Europe and North America, with Tales of Symphonia Chronicles and Tales of Xillia 2 being released on the PlayStation 3 in 2014.
