Activision tempt COD: Ghosts fans with free day one map

On August 30, 2013 by Ash Meehan

Activision and Infinity Ward have today announced that those who preorder Call of Duty: Ghosts will receive free day one multiplayer map called, Free Fall, a shattered skyscraper on the brink of collapse.

According to Infinity Ward team this new map will be a dynamic map that will feature moving environments. In the above behind the scenes video, the developers at Infinity Wars really are selling this new feature for Call of Duty.

Honestly, I’m not a fan of this move by both companies. Why is a map which is being developed to show off one of the new multiplayer features only available to those who preorder? What happens to those who decide not to preorder the game, do they have to purchase this free map? And if so does that not mean that some players might not be able to experience a map which is being made to show off the series brand new feature.

Also I have to say that the video annoys me completely. Especially with what Mark Rubin, Executive Producer, Infinity Ward said at the start of the video, where he states the map is a thank you. I think everyone knows it is to increase the number of preorders, but I really wish he had said something so pandering.

Call of Duty: Ghosts will be released on November 5th for PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U. The game will also be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at a later date.
