Codemasters has officially announced that Grid 2, the sequel to Race Driver: Grid is in productions and is set for a 2013 release for Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3.

The above announcement trailer reveals some of the game’s new locations which include Chicago, Paris and the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi. The trailer also show cases the great wheel to wheel action that fans will hopefully experience in the game.

Grid 2 will have an expansive career mode, which will offer fans aggressive wheel to wheel racing against advanced AI. Grid 2 will also offer a new TrueFeel Handling system which will use real physics to simulate a realistic handling experience of the cars you will drive.

“GRID’s back and we’re going to make street, track and road racing exciting again,” said Clive Moody, Executive Producer. “The core design philosophy for GRID 2 is that we treat the race as a character, not a consequence of simply putting cars on tracks. Everything that goes into the game impacts on that second-to-second, in the moment, blockbuster drama – the feel and personality of the race.”

Grid 2 has being in pre-production for two years and is now in full development. Codemasters promise that the game will raise the technological bar for motorsport gaming and remain true to the series’ core value.
