At present Xbox Live is having issues and is offline at present according to Xbox Support twitter.
The news came via the Xbox support twitter account @XboxSupport. The tweet said “We are aware of the issues some users are having with Xbox LIVE and are actively investigating. Thanks for your patience ^JG”
