Finally it has being revealed, SWTOR has a release date. Those in North America will get it December 20, 2011 and Europe will get it December 22, 2011 and the monthly fee was also announced.

Along with the release date the expected monthly fee was revealed and priced for the first time. As usual there are 3 payment options which are.

  • $14.99/£8.99/€12.99 per month
  • $41.97/£25.17/€35.97 for 3 months ($13.99/£8.39/€11.99 per month)
  • $77.94/£46.14/€65.94 for 6 month ($12.99/£7.69/€10.99 per month)

As usual you get 30 days free with the purchase of the game. It will be interesting how the sub model will work with many MMO’s abandoning it for the freemium model.

By all regards SWTOR already promises to be one of EA/Bioware’s best games to date with the game already picking up 95 industry awards (including “Best MMO” at E3 from ourselves) and the game has already broken the EA pre-order record.

The game was originally announced to the world in October 2008 and now nearly 3 years on it is just about ready for release.

Dr. Ray Muzyka, Co Founder of Bioware said “This is an incredible moment for everyone at Bioware and out partners at Lucas Arts who have dedicated so much of their lives to building this extraordinary game”.

It will be interesting to see how SWTOR will do especially with the release date with it being out 5 days before Christmas in NA and only 3 days before Christmas in EU. It is likely hardcore audiences will pick it up straight away but could day 1 sales be hindered by the date well only time can answer that one.
