Over 1 million Steam code for Dirt 3 stolen
According to Kotaku 3 million Steam codes for the upcoming game “Dirt 3” which is published by Codemasters have been stolen.
The theft happened after Codemasters put the 1 million + codes on its webservers in a sql database which could be accessed with an .htaccess exploit. The codes were put up their so they could be accessed easily by themselves for the promotional offer with AMD which sees people who buy an AMD card getting a free copy of Dirt 3.
Those who have stolen and used the codes are been tracked down and the stolen codes are been black listed. It is a major embarrassment for Codemasters definitely but it looks like they are trying to get everything sorted as soon as possible and hopefully they will have learnt their lesson this time.
