Call of Duty Elite premium priced at $50 a year
At “Call of Duty XP” the price for the paid content of “Call of Duty Elite” which is the new Call of Duty social network and stat tracking service.
While the majority of the content on the site will be free for example stat tracking, the ability to upload a limited number of videos and screenshots, create clans and more. The free stuff is basically what you would get with the Bungie’s and DICE’s stat tracking services, but with 1 or 2 extras.
Now here is the main part and what a lot of people have complained about including me on occasions, the paid content. Elite membership will cost $50 a year and it will get you access to some nice features within the stat tracking service.
Features for paid users include:
- The ability to level up clans: This allows you and your clan to unlock virtual items. The items in question are all cosmetic and will not affect matches in any way.
- Daily competitions for virtual and real prizes: Every day there will be competitions for any Elite paid subscriber to take part in with prizes including an iPad and more it seems pretty sweet and all matches are refereed by real people to prevent cheating.
- Extra video storage: Paid Elite members can store up to 8 times more than free members.
- Elite TV: This features 2 shows related to COD gameplay. The shows are called “Noob Toob” where players submit clips and the hosts provide “smack talk” and the second is “Friday Night Fights” this is mode from Modern Warfare 3 game footage.
- DLC content for a year: The paid subscription includes usually paid DLC for free. At XP it was said there should be about 20 pieces of DLC content which range from map packs, new spec ops missions and additional game modes.
If you are a big COD fan then you can’t argue that it isn’t worth your money. Personally I doubt I will pay it at this moment in time but I guess I will see what happens in the future.
COD: Elite launches with MW3 on November 8, 2011.
Also Activision released a behind the scenes video for Elite:
