Bigpoint’s free to play online browser game “Battlestar Galactica Online” has surpassed 5 million registered players since it launched back in February of this year.

BGO is based off the popular science fiction show called Battlestar Galactica and it takes place during the new series at the height of Cylon attacks against the remaining Colonial forces.

A long with the announcement of 5 million registered players, Bigpoint has being adding new ships which are Recon ships which have special abilities. Recon ships can use an ability called “jump to target” which allows the ships to well get to a target quickly. Recon ships are light fighters and will look like classic raptors and Heavy Raider.

Bigpoint have said they will continue their multi-tiered development schedule which sees them look at 3 key areas: ongoing optimization and bug repair, short-term updates, and long-term content additions.

Finally the Brimir class carrier will be out this fall along with purchasable basic models for the recon ships.
