Divinity: Original Sin II announced, coming to Kickstarter soon
Larian Studios has today announced Divinity: Original Sin II, and just like its previous game, Divinity: Original Sin, it will be funded via Kickstarter.
According to the studio the game will appear on Kickstarter on August 26th, but before that the studio is asking fans what type of rewards would they like to see offered during the Kickstarter campaign.
Reward ideas can be put forward on the Divinity: Original Sin II’s website and users can vote for what reward they think would be best. At present, the five most voted for reward ideas are: Adult mode, 4-player coop, documentary about development process and history, beer mug, and early bird discount.
Larian Studios gave no details regarding on how much money they are looking for, but when they placed Divinity: Original Sin on Kickstarter back in March 2013 they were looking for $400,000 (when it ended it made $944,282).
A prototype of Divinity: Original Sin II will be playable at PAX Prime, highlighting some of the game’s unique features.
UPDATE: Larian Studios Founder, Swen Vincke, has taken to his blog to explain why the game is being funded via Kickstarter, the short version of the explanation is “Divinity: Original Sin wouldn’t be the game it was without the input from our Kickstarter backers & Steam Early Access players. There were a lot of them and they pushed us forwards in directions we hadn’t anticipated when we started development.” For a more lengthy explanation please read Vincke’s return to Kickstarter blog post.
