Valve file trademark for Half-Life 3 in Europe
According to a thread on Neogaf Valve has trademarked the name Half-Life 3 in Europe. The trademark which was filed last Sunday confirms seems to now confirm that Valve are developing the hotly anticipated game.
The Half-Life series is one of Valves highly praised titles, originally released in 1998 the game received almost all perfect scores from with the Metacritic score of 96/100. The subsequent sequels – Half-Life 2 (episode 1 and episode 2) both received high Metacritic scores with the lowest being 87/100 for Half-Life 2: Episode One. The reason for Half-Life’s success was down to fact that it took a giant leap forward in game design with non-enemy characters, seamless area transitions etc.
Fans of the Half-Life series have been waiting for Half-Life 3 since Half-Life 2: Episode 2 was released in October 2007 via The Orange Box. The filling of a Half-Life 3 trademark in Europe might not mean the game is close to release, in fact the trademark doesn’t even prove/guarantee the game will be released. I guess everyone will have to wait and see what Valve does.
Thank you to Aszrayel for the tip.
