World of the Living Dead shutdown, but all is not lost

On June 24, 2013 by Ash Meehan

Ballardia Games, a Dublin based indie studio has announced that they have shutting down their browser-based zombie survival strategy game, World of the Living Dead. The game will be replaced by WotLD: Resurrection, a rebuilt version of the old game this summer.

The reason for the closure of the game was due to the fact the developers of WotLD felt that game in its current shape, form and infrastructure needed a drastic redesign. One of the major issues with the game was that the game was unable to cope with large influxes of players.

In the shutdown press release, co-founder Dave Barton and co-founder Kulpreet Singh explained what changes were being made and what was being kept.

Dave Barton said:

“We ripped out its guts but not its brains. World of the Living Dead is still a challenging, hardcore game for the smart zombie game strategist.”

Kulpreet Singh said:

“We’ve made substantial design changes – restructuring the universe into grids, extracting information from a rich real-world data set and making these grids and data work together to provide a much more scalable game.”

WotLD: Resurrection will be launched later this summer. To learn about all the changes which include a new grid-based movement system and more visit, http://blog.worldofthelivingdead.com/.
