Xbox 360 footage of Battlefield 3 and comparison
Well today Dice has finally shown off some Xbox 360 footage for their upcoming shooter “Battlefield 3”. The video is the second trailer for “Operation Guillotine”.
Honestly I am no expert, but you can see some differences between the Xbox 360 version and the version which showed the Operation Guillotine teaser.
For some comparisons between the 2 trailers and for the Xbox 360 footage read on.
A good example is the segment with the mortar been fired. The particle effects on the car fire seem to be downgraded even when I play both videos in 720p. The smoke effect on the particle has been toned down a lot and it doesn’t seem to look like a car on fire it looks static to me; this is on the Xbox 360 gameplay.
While we don’t get a full view of Tehran in the 360 video like we did in the teaser this is a difficult comparison and would have been great to have, but from looking at the start we do see a tad bit of blurring in the distance on the Xbox 360 version.
Going over the wall is again a difficult comparison because it seems while they both look the same both sequences are difference. I am unsure if there is any technical reason for this or Dice decided to change it all round or for the Xbox 360 version.
In the short shoot out in the sewer area we see a lighting difference between the videos. The Xbox 360 version seems to have more light; it looks like they changed the lighting on the 360 version.
Ok honestly that is all I can really say. As I said I am no expert the only experience with this is using the Unreal Development Kit.
Overall from comparing the 2 it looks like the lighting has been changed for the Xbox 360 version and particle effects seem more toned down while compared the first Operation Guillotine video. As a person who prefers gameplay over graphics it is not too annoying for me, but it is interesting to see the differences none the less.
