Yesterday Valve announced their latest game “Counter Strike: Global Offensive” otherwise known as CS: GO for console and PC early next year.
It was 12 years ago this month that the world was introduced to the original Counter Strike, which became a hit among PC gamers and dominated the E-Sport scene for many years but like many things its popularity slowly died.
This new Counter Strike will also be the first Counter Strike game to appear on consoles a move that will no doubt annoy hardcore Counter Strike players for about 5 minutes.
CS: GO will feature new maps, characters and weapons, but it will also retain some classic content like the CS map de_dust but with updated graphics. Also new modes, matchmaking and leaderboards will be introduced.
Counter Strike: Global Offensive will hit Steam, XBLA and PSN in Q1 2012.
