Today is a time to rejoice for Playstation users as the Playstation Network is beginning to come back up.

The PSN is full back up in North America and is slowly beginning to come back up in Europe (although still down here in Ireland).

To start things off a system update has come out which is version 3.61 which includes all the new security systems that have.

Also Kazuo Hirai (President of SCE) released an announcement to go with the return of the Playstation Network.

Here is what has returned so far:

  • Sign in Playstation Network & Qriocity Services
  • Online play for PS3 and PSP
  • music Unlimited login
  • Access to 3rd party sites through PS3 like netflix, hulu, vudu etc.
  • Playstation Home
  • Friends list
  • chat
  • trophy comparison
  • video rental playback

Also all PSN users and Qriocity must change their password after they sign in and it can only be done on the PS3 you activated the account on or through validated email.

The other services like:

  • Playstation Store
  • Purchasing items via Playstation store

Will return at a future date. Also the welcome back program offerings will be revealed at a future date.
