On May 26, 2011 by Ash Meehan

Today Kaos Studios announced that Homefront will be getting some downloadable content.

The first DLC (map pack) will known as “Fire Sale” and will contain 2 new maps and in the news post it says:

the “Fire Sale” Map Pack will carry you further into the heart of a war torn and twisted America.

The map pack will be released on the Xbox 360 first as a short time exclusive on June 7th (the day E3 opens), also with the DLC will come the 870 Express shotgun which was a preorder item you could get and for the icing on the cake player on the Xbox 360will get a free premium Homefront theme.

There is no word on the price or when it will be put on the PS3 and PC.

Also today we saw the Xbox 360 version patched and it brought with it a little surprise in the way of the “Abilities Pack”. The Abilities pack sees 5 new abilities for players to pick from in the multiplayer. The new abilities are:

  • Ice Cold: Invisible on thermal views and airstrike sensors
  • Situational Awareness: Enemy gamertag appears when shot
  • EMP Tactician: Deal more damage vs EMP’d vehicles
  • Short Fuse: Reduced cook time on frag grenades
  • Bomb Suit: Take less damage from explosives

At present these are only available on the Xbox 360 but we reached out to Kaos Studios about the abilities appearing on the PS3 and PC versions.

Lastly along with the Ability Pack the Xbox 360 patch saw many improvements which are:

  • Assist points for vehicle kills
  • Rank Resets
  • Game returns to MP menu instead of Main Menu after leaving a match
  • Max ping limits for server connections (prevent connections to distant servers)
  • Game freeze & hitching
  • Joining Friends feature
  • Beacon errors
  • Party Connectivity
  • and various other fixes
