PlayStation Plus price to increase to €60 per year from August 31
Today, Sony has announced that the price of PlayStation Plus will increase by €10/£10 a year starting August 31st.
According to an email from Sony, the new monthly, quarterly and yearly PlayStation Plus will increase to the following.
- Monthly will change from €6.99/£5.99 to €7.99/£6.99 per month
- Quarterly will change from €19.99/£14.99 to €24.99/£19.99 per quarter
- Yearly will change from €49.99/£39.99 to €59.99/£49.99 per year
Those who have existing memberships or renew their membership before August 31st will see the price change added to their current membership period. This means if you have an active PS Plus membership before and after August 31st, the new difference between the new and original costs will be deducted from your credit card or whatever payment method you used.
There was no explanation given for the price increase, but one could speculate that the instability in the European and British currency markets created by Brexit could be a factor. I speculate it could be market volatility with Brexit as there is no word of a price increase in any other territories.
