SG Gaming Info is heading to GamerCon

With Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XIV European Fan Fest in Frankfurt behind me, SG Gaming Info is heading to GamerCon in Dublin from March 18-19.

The March convention will mark the first GamerCon convention in Ireland, and it has already garnered a lot of attention with tickets for the two-day convention selling well with all Saturday tickets have being sold out, and only Sunday passes and Sunday VIP passes remaining.

So, what can people expect from GamerCon? Well, the convention has a large list of sponsors and exhibitors, which includes Omen by HP, Xbox, Razer, Red Bull, PlayStation, Alienware, and Creative. Exhibitors will be showing off the biggest and best titles and merchandise from the world of gaming. For those wishing to give VR a spin, PlayStation will be bringing the PlayStation VR for you to try in their dedicated VR zone, but if VR is too new for you, you can roll back the years and go to the convention’s Retro gaming zone. While there will be plenty of games for people to try, there is no word on what games will be playable at the convention.

While playing games is fun, you can relax and watch some e-sports, as GamerCon will be hosting four separate e-sports tournaments, the tournaments are for: League of Legends, Counter Strike: Global Offensive, Rocket League, and Street Fighter V. If you have even a passing interest in competitive gaming, I recommend sitting down and watching the action, or better yet sign up for one of the tournaments.

Finally, there will be several YouTube stars in attendance. The YouTubers attending GamerCon are Ali-A, JeromeASF, Uberdanger, Clare Siobhan, AR12 Gaming, Little Kelly, Little Carly and Minevengers. I honestly don’t know any of these YouTubers, but I’m sure they will offer some great insight into the world of YouTube, and how they got to where they are today.

GamerCon seems like it could be a good gaming convention, I’ve never heard of a dedicated games convention in Ireland so it will be interesting to see if the Irish public embrace it like the various comic and pop-culture conventions that have sprung up over the years.

Regarding my coverage of GamerCon, it will be my standard opinion piece article detailing the positives and negatives of the convention, and of course a few photographs. I might even throw in a few vox-pops if I feel it appropriate, so if you are at the convention and someone with a recorder asks you what you think of GamerCon, it might be me.
