BAFTA Game Awards

The latest BAFTA game awards show has ended, with several studios winning multiple awards, and a somewhat shock best game award winner.

Let’s start with what I saw was a shock Best Game award winner, Fallout 4. Fallout 4 beat some great competitors in the form of Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, Life is Strange, Metal Gear Solid V, Rocket League, and The Witcher 3. Personally, I wasn’t a fan of Fallout 4, if you read my review you will know why, but I guess the people who chose the winner thought otherwise.

Away from the Best Game award, big winners on the night were Psyonix’s Rocket League and Sam Barlow’s Her Story, which both won three awards each. Rocket League won the Family, Sports, and multiplayer awards, while Her Story won the Debut game, Game Innovation and Mobile and Handheld Awards.

The biggest losers of the night were Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture and The Witcher 3. Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture was nominated for ten awards but left with only three. However, The Witcher 3, which was nominated for seven awards walked away with nothing.

As the night drew to a close John Carmack, the man who helped bring Doom, Wolfenstein 3D and Quake to life was honoured with a BAFTA Fellowship award.

Below is a list of all the winners and the category they won:

  • Best Music – Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture
  • Best British game – Batman: Arkham Knight
  • Artistic Achievement – Ori and the Blind Forest
  • Audio Achievement – Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture
