Fate/Extra TV anime announced

It has been announced that Fate/Extra, RPG spin-off of the Fate/stay night visual novel, will be made into a TV anime titled Fate/Extra Last Encore and is slated for a 2017 release.

Studio Shaft (Madoka Magica and Bakemonogatari) will be tasked with handling the animation production on Fate/Extra Last Encore. Studio Shaft has been involved with the Fate/Extra series in the past as the studio produced the opening for Fate/Extra CCC.

Fate/Extra was originally released by Marvelous Entertainment in July 2010 for the PlayStation Portable. Aksys Games released the game in North America on November 21st, 2010, and Ghostlight released the game across Europe on May 4th, 2012.

A second Fate/Extra game titled, Fate/Extra CCC was released in Japan on March 28th, 2013, the game wasn’t set as a sequel, but as a new route for players to take. Currently, there is no word on Fate/Extra CCC coming to either North America or Europe.

Fate/Extra Last Encore wasn’t the only major Fate series announced as a 3-part Fate/Stay Night: Heaven’s Feel film was also announced. Heaven’s Feel is the third and final route in the Fate/Stay Night visual novel.
