On February 1, 2016 by Aaron Meehan

GOG.com has announced that they have entered the world of early access gaming, by selling a select number of in-development games from their store.

GOG.com is the latest in an increasing number of distributors that allow developers to sell an in-development version of their game. Other distributors that allow buying games during development are Steam with its Early Access Program, and Microsoft’s Xbox One with its Xbox Game Preview.

In the press release regarding the GOG.com early access program, Piotr Karwowski, GOG.com Managing Director gave the following information on how the program will work.

“Our goal has always been to offer a selection of titles that are both excellent and worth your time. Nowadays, we’re seeing more games that are already great experiences while still in development,” says Piotr Karwowski, GOG.com Managing Director. “We want all gamers on GOG.com to have access to what these titles have to offer, but we want to get it right, carefully evaluating each and every game, offering a 14-day refund policy, and providing GOG Galaxy support with update rollback and more.”

Currently, there are five in development games available for purchase via GOG.com. These five are Starbound, Ashes of the Singularity, Project Zomboid, TerraTech, and Curious Expeditions.

The GoG.com in development games program is very much buyer-centric with it providing a 14 day no questions asked refund policy and the ability rollback game updates. The five above-mentioned games are set to be one numerous in development games added to GOG.com with the company promising more games in the future.
