US-based sports network, ESPN is beginning to increase their interest in Esports as the company launches a dedicated Esports section to the ESPN website.

The dedicated Esports section will focus on Esports news and events from League of Legends, Dota 2, Hearthstone and more.

ESPN also announced they had hired several notable names from the Esports community to provide content for the new subsection these members are: Darin Kwilinski (Editor) – veteran writer and gamer who operates the League of Legends news section for onGamers. Rod Breslau (Writer) – known online as “Slasher”, Breslau has recently served as senior editor at theScore eSports, hosted the first daily live esports talk show and much more. Tyler Erzberger (writer) – Erzberger has written for various companies in the industry including theScore eSports in Canada.

This new Esports subsection isn’t ESPNs first attempt to enter the world of Esports. ESPN 3 carried live coverage of Blizzcon and The International Dota 2 Championship over the past two years, and the network delivered exclusive live coverage of Heroes of the Dorm, with the final airing live on ESPN2.

ESPN are not the only company increasing their interest in Esports as earlier this month Activision purchased Major League Gaming (MLG) in an effort to bring Esports to television.
