Aion makes its way to Steam
Steam has gained a new free to play MMO as Gameforge has brought the NCSoft developed Aion Free-to-play to the PC digital distribution platform.
Gameforge, which focuses on the European side of the game, hopes that the steam release will encourage more people to play the game, as sentiment that was acknowledged by Nicolas Stumpf, Product Director of AION Free-to-Play at Gameforge: “This step allows us to enable even more players a straightforward point of entry to AION. It is part of our strategy to keep the still massive player count over the longer term and in doing so, generate the maximum level of fun within the exciting world of Atreia.”
To encourage users to play Aion, new players who select to play as the Asmodian race will receive a free Gold Pack when they reach level eight.
Aion was originally released as a pay to play MMO by NCSoft in 2009, however the game went free to play in Europe on February 29, 2012, with several limitations, while in North America the game went free to play on April 11, 2015, but unlike the European free to play model there were no restrictions.
