Bethesda stated that within a week of its Apple release play sessions surpassed 70 million times a day, within two days of launch the game became the top-grossing game on the App store despite the fact that in-game purchases are not required to enjoy the experience.

While players can do everything in the game for free, you do have the option of buy “lunch boxes”, these boxes contain four Fallout Shelter cards (with at least one guaranteed rare or better card) the card provide players with additional caps, weapons, dweller, armour etc. While these boxes give good rewards, players can earn lunch boxes for free by completing various challenges.
