EA Sports has announced that FIFA 16 will feature twelve Women’s National teams for the first time in franchises history.

FIFA 16, which will launch on September 22, 2015, will feature Women’s National teams from Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, England, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Sweden, and the United States of America. These twelve teams will be available in several game modes including Kick Off, offline tournaments, and Online friendly matches.

Personally, I feel the inclusion of these twelve teams marks a step forward for women’s football, which honestly has never managed (in my eyes) to be come anywhere near as popular as men’s football. For me I have heard and seen some women’s football from time to time, but I feel what helped people know more about it was the fact that Ireland’s Stephanie Roche came second in the 2014 FIFA Puskas Award (goal of the year awards).
