NCSoft has announced that their martial arts focused MMO, Blade & Soul will be finally making its way to Europe and North America this Winter, with a closed beta taking place in Autumn.

Blade & Soul has already attracted a number of fans with NCSoft’s announcement press release stating that “Since its initial launch in Asia in mid-2012, Blade & Soul has attracted tens of millions of players across South Korea, China, Taiwan, and Japan.”

To go along with the announcement, NCSoft has released an announcement trailer and several screenshots.

NCSoft’s press release also gives the following information regarding the martial arts MMO.

Blade & Soul delivers an engaging story and vibrant world for players to explore. In the game, players must fight to avenge the death of their fallen master in a classic Wuxia storyline. Wuxia, which literally means “martial hero”, is a broad genre of Chinese fiction concerning the adventures of martial artists in ancient China. As players explore the world in Blade & Soul, they will see a fusion of Asian cultures that delivers stunning landscapes and vistas.

Blade & Soul defies typical MMO conventions, delivering action-based combat with ability combos and a flexible party role system that does not require dedicated healers. It gives players unprecedented movement abilities around the world as their characters leap over mountains and fly through the air.

Blade & Soul has proven to be such a popular MMO in Asia that in April 2014 a thirteen episode anime called “Blade & Soul” was released. For those interested the anime can be viewed legally via Crunchyroll. While the anime might not be to everyone’s taste it does offer a good insight into game’s world.
