Sid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earth announced

On April 12, 2014 by Aaron Meehan

Get ready to leave Earth as Firaxis have announced their new out of this world Civilization title, Civilization: Beyond Earth at their developer panel at PAX East.

It seems like the Civilization: Beyond Earth will be a spiritual successor to Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri, with Joystiq quoting Will Miller, the game’s leader designer saying, “The heart and soul [of Alpha Centauri] lives at Firaxis. For all the fans of Alpha Centauri, this is the game we’ve made for you.” For those curious why the game isn’t named Alpha Centauri 2, the reason is that EA own the rights to Alpha Centauri.

Firaxis also revealed an announcement trailer, which you can see above, and that Sid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earth will be released in fall 2014 for PC, Mac and Linux.
