Rockstar sets their sights on GTA Online cheaters

With GTA Online currently down for maintenance, Rockstar has announced that they are removing counterfeit GTA$ that made its way into the game’s economy as a result of cheaters generating and distributing a game-breaking amount of money.
In an official post on the issue Rockstar stated that those who are caught cheating and exploiting will be subject to in-game penalties. Penalties may include being place in isolated cheater pools or banned from GTA Online altogether.
For those who received the counterfeit GTA$ don’t fear, as Rockstar has addressed this potential issue by stating “Anyone that innocently received GTA$ as a result of these exploits but did not engage in cheating to acquire it will not face any further action – the funds will just be removed, and you’ll be able to keep any items you currently own.”
Rockstar is also encouraging players to report GTA Online players who are taking advantage of exploits. To report players in GTA Online just do the following: “In the Pause menu, under the Online tab, select Players and scroll to the offending player. From there, select Report and choose Exploits from the violation options.”
