On November 12, 2013 by Aaron Meehan

Today, Sony Online Entertainment has released the first phase of the optimisation patch dubbed Operation: Make Faster Game (OMFG) for their MMOFPS PlanetSide 2.

The first phase of optimisation process for PlanetSide 2 includes: optimised UI, physics, sound player processing, rendering code and more. According to SOE these improvements will give PlanetSide 2 players a significantly increased frame rate and performance, with them stating that some players might see a 30%+ improvement in frame rates.

The second phase of the optimisation process will see the team at SOE focus on engineering improvements to the visibility and physics systems within the game.

The reaction to the patch has being mixed with players on the PlanetSide 2 forums reporting that the game runs much better and other reporting crashes.
