Hi-Rez Studios’ SMITE gets a release date

Hi-Rez Studios has announced that their 3D god MOBA SMITE will be officially released for PC on March 25, 2014. Along with the release date, Hi-Rez has announced a $100,000 SMITE launch tournament.
SMITE, which is currently in open beta allows players to fight each other with mythological gods in a traditional MOBA style. The list of playable gods includes: Anubis – the Egyptian god of the dead, Ares – the Greek god of war, Freya – the Norse queen of the Valkyries and many more gods from Chinese, Greek, Roman, Norse, Mayan, Hindu and Egyptian mythology.
The $100,000 SMITE launch tournament will take place on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th March 2014 in Atlanta, Georgia. The tournament will include the top four teams in Europe and the top four in North America who will have qualified via the SMITE weekly tournament series which begins on January 4, 2014. For those wondering where they can watch the event, they can watch the final as a member of the live audience or watch it online via the SMITE Twitch channel.
