EVE Online hosts a massive battle with 4,000 players

On July 29, 2013 by Ash Meehan

Yesterday, just over 4,000 EVE Online players took part in the biggest online space battle, when CFC fought the TEST Alliance in the system known as 6VDT.

The massive battle which lasted for several hours was won by the CFC after they sent a large fleet of capital ships into the battle. Not long after this fleet appeared pilots belonging to the Test Alliance began to retreat. If losing the biggest ever battle in EVE wasn’t bad enough, Test Alliance most likely has a rather large repair bill.

During the battle, CCP Games, the game’s developers had to slow down time in the area by more than 90 percent so the game server could process all player actions. For those curious there is only one main server for EVE Online.

The number of players in the battle topped 4,070 players, a new record in EVE Online with the previous record being 3,615.
