On May 24, 2013 by Ash Meehan

EA has today announced Need of Speed Rivals, an open road racing game developed by Ghost Games. Rivals will be released on PC, and current and next-gen consoles later in the year.

Need for Speed Rivals will be cops and racers game with racers trying to become infamous for escaping cops and taking huge risks, while the cops attempt to stop racers from pulling of huge races etc.

Here is EA’ description of the new Need for Speed game.

In Need for Speed Rivals, gamers play as either a cop or racer, where each side of the law has its own set of high stakes challenges, rewards and consequences. As a racer, the goal is to become infamous for taking risks behind the wheel and capturing your most intense escapes on video for the world to see. The more cops players evade, the more Speed Points they collect, enabling them to unlock new cars and items. Keep raising the stakes race after race to become an ever-more valuable target to the cops – but risk losing it all if busted. As a cop, players work together as part of a team in pursuit of racers, earning prominence and rising in the ranks of the Police Force with every bust. Achieving higher ranks unlocks new police only cars and more powerful pursuit tech.

For those who wish to drive a Ferrari again in a Need for Speed game again, you are in look, as Ferrari will be returning to the Need for Speed franchise, with a list of cars that include the F12berlinetta.

While Ghost Games will be the developers of the new title, Criterion Games will be lending the new developers some support. Need for Speed: Rivals will be built on the Frostbite 3 game engine.

Need for Speed: Rivals will be available for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on November 19, 2013. The game will also be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later this year.
