Call of Duty: Ghosts officially announced

On May 1, 2013 by Ash Meehan

Activision has officially announced the next Call of Duty game, Call of Duty: Ghosts. Ghosts will shown for the first time at the ‘Xbox: The Next Generation Revealed’ event on May 21, 2013. Ghosts is scheduled to be released this November on current and next-gen platforms.

Activision and developers Infinity Ward have already put a lot of praise and hype behind the game, with Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, Inc. saying the following on today’s press release.

“Ghosts delivers an all-new story, all-new characters, an all-new Call of Duty world, all powered by a next generation Call of Duty engine, which is a leap forward for the franchise. Infinity Ward is going all-in to create the next generation of Call of Duty worthy of the world’s greatest fans.”

Honestly, when I read the above quote I didn’t know what to think. To me Call of Duty games made by Infinity Ward have had bland and uninteresting stories; with characters I never felt any attachment too. So when Activision states that Infinity Ward’s next Call of Duty game will offer a riveting all-new gameplay experience, I really do have to take that statement with a pinch of salt. With that said Infinity Ward could prove me wrong, but honestly I’m not putting my hopes up.

If the above quote wasn’t enough, Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, Inc.  went onto say the following about Call of Duty: Ghosts and Infinity Ward.

“Infinity Ward set the gold standard for first-person action for a generation, and they’re going to do it again with Call of Duty: Ghosts,”

No pressure there, Infinity Ward.

To go along with the announcement of Ghosts, Activision has released a teaser trailer for the game. The teaser can be viewed at the top of this article.

Call of Duty: Ghosts will be available for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 on November 5, 2013. Ghosts will also be released on next-generation platforms.
