CD Projekt RED has announced via, Gameinformer, the final game in the Witcher series, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Adam Badowski, head of CD Projekt RED detailed what players can expect in the new Witcher game “The captivating and nonlinear story of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt takes place in a rich, truly open world environment. A world which is thrilling to explore, full of daring adventures, momentous quests, memorable characters, and unique monsters. Players will freely travel through woods, lakes, mountains, cities, and villages. Each region is inhabited by distinct populations with their own customs, legends and problems. The world of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is 30 times bigger than The Witcher 2,”

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be released in 2014 on all high-end platforms. The new game will use CD Projekt RED’s brand new in-house technology, REDengine 3. The term high-end platform is an interesting statement by CD Projekt RED, as it could likely mean that the game will not be on current generation consoles, PS3 and Xbox 360, but rather on Sony’s or Microsoft’s next new console which are both rumoured to be revealed this year. But don’t fret if you don’t want to buy a new console to play The Witcher 3 because it will be more than likely available on the PC.

Along with the announcement of the game, Game Informer released an exclusive The Witcher 3 video, the video has various CD Projekt RED developers saying what players can expect in next year’s game.

To celebrate the announcement of the third game, both the Witcher 1 and 2 are on sale over at GOG.com and Steam until February 8.
