Nexon to publish Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex game
The Korean based free to play publisher, Nexon has announced that it will be publishing and developing a game based on Kodansha Ltd’s Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.
Not much was revealed in the announcement, but Nexon’s CEO Seungwoo Choi did make a statement regarding the agreement with Kodansha Ltd: “We are very pleased to have given the opportunity to work with Kodansha in the development of games for the Ghost in the Shell: STAND ALONE COMPLEX franchise, which is highly popular worldwide. We will add NEXON’s wide-ranging experiences and know-how to the original creation in order to develop high quality games to meet the expectations of all its fans.”
Ghost in the Shell takes place in the near future, where people can become cyborgs with prosthetics. The series is set in a fictional Japanese City, and it follows the members of the Public Security Section 9, a special-operations task-force made up of former military officers and police detectives.
Ghost in the Shell was originally released as a manga by Kodansha Ltd in 1989, following the release of the manga Ghost in the Shell been made into theatrical anime movies, anime TV series and novels. Ghost in the Shell has become a widely popular franchise which has won several notable entry awards on the 2003 Tokyo International Anime fair.
