Final Fantasy XIV beta test details unveiled

Yesterday, Square Enix revealed their plans for the Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn beta which is due to start mid-February 2013.
According to the official FFXIV beta roadmap, the beta will be split into four phases. The first two phases will see testing focused on the PC version of the mmo, but by the third phase testing will be expanded to the PlayStation 3 version of the mmo and the fourth phase will be a short open beta period. If the duration period for each phase and debug period are correct then the beta period will last between 8-18 weeks.
To enter the beta, Square Enix has stated the following people are eligible:
- Legacy Status Holders
- Final Fantasy Service Account Holders
- Applicants selected through the beta tester application site (opening early January 2013)
- Those who have a Square Enix Members code which came with Final Fantasy XII will be given priority for the PlayStation 3 beta test
