Learn more about Black Ops II multiplayer
Activision and Treyarch has dropped new info regarding the Call of Duty: Blacks Ops II multiplayer from new score streaks, a focus on eSport and more.
Black Ops II multiplayer will be set in the year 2025 and as such weapons, location etc. will reflect this.
The first addition is the re-boot to “create a class”. The old system is to be replaced with an all new “pick-10” system, this new system according to Activision allows “an unprecedented number of combinations of create a class content”. The new system will give you 10 points to spend on your class with each piece of content, basically as Activision has said “Players no longer have to take content from each category; instead, trade items from one category for extra items in another – any combination of 10 items”. In short players can create class that might contain multiple perks from one category, have 3 attachments on a primary weapon and more.
Want to receive more rewards for helping your team? Well now you can with score streaks. Score streaks provide streak points to those who capture flags, defend teammates with an assault shield, kills and assists and more. With these streak points you can pick up an array of all new rewards which includes: Guardian – a microwave turret for crowd control, Swarm – a swarm of kamikaze drones, Hellstorm missile – a guided missile, AGR (Autonomous Ground Robot) – this can either be AI controlled or player controlled, MQ-27 Dragonfire – a player controlled quad rotor with a LMG, A10F Worthog – an AI controlled plane which performs strafing runs on the battlefield and finally Uber weapons – these include War Machine and Death Machine which is hand held Gatling Gun.
With the future setting new upgrades, attachments and equipment will be added which include: Assault shield – mobile cover, target finger – makes it easier to ID friend or foe, Millimetre wave scanner – allows you to see stationary targets at close range and through walls, Dual Band Scope – Shows objects that generates hear for more precision in long range shots, Shock Charger – non-lethal stun device, laser sight – for better accuracy.
Black Ops II will have a lot of focus on the eSport scene. Black Ops II will contain codcasting which is a specialized spectator mode for caster to better cast game with tools such as picture in picture, map view, score panel, name plate and listen in. Treyarch will support live streaming from inside the game reducing the load on bandwidth and finally league play which is a seasonal ladder tournament.
Black Ops II will contain one new game mode called Hardpoint which is a King of the Hill style game where players battle for map control. Players will be able to create custom games and take part in Party games (formerly known as Wager games in Black Ops) which are games that are just for fun.
Prestige players will no longer get their stats and challenges reset after you unlock prestige. Unlocking prestige will give players rewards such as extra create a class slots and more.
A full range of multiplayer maps have been revealed. The maps include:
- Aftermath: Ruins of downtown Los Angeles after a drone attack.
- Cargo: In the docks of Singapore, where cargo containers are constantly moving and changing the shape of cover in the map center.
- Turbine: Set in a wind farm in the desert plains of Yemen, Turbine is a large, open map, with the ability to climb on everything.
- Yemen: Urban street fight with tight alleyways and lots of changing elevation to the battle.
- Overflow: Great Urban engagements in the flood littered streets of Peshawar, Pakistan.
- Express: Los Angeles bullet train station with good long to medium engagements up and down the train tracks.
- Hijacked: Luxurious super yacht with frantic, yet controlled close quarters engagements

Call of Duty: Black Ops II will be available November 13, 2012 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
