Sony unveil a new slimmer PS3
Sony has today revealed a new slimmer and lighter PlayStation 3 at this year’s Tokyo Game Show. The new PS3 will be available in 3 models: a 500GB model, a 250GB model and a 12GB flash memory model.
According to the official press release the new model is completely redesigning the internal design architecture, the internal volume and weight of the new PS3 is reduced by more than half compared to the very first PS3 model with a 60GB HDD, and by 20 % and 25% respectively compared to the current PS3.
Sony has revealed the pricing, models and launch dates of the new PS3 model in each.
In North America the HDD 500 GB model will be released on October 30th for US$299 and the HDD 25GB model will be released on September 25th for US$249. The 12GB flash memory model will not be available in North America.
In Europe/PAL territories the 500GB will be released on September 28th for €299 and the 12GB flash memory model will be released on October 12th for €229. The 250 GB model will not be available in Europe/PAL territories.
In Japan the HDD 500GB and 250 GB models will be released October 4th for 29,800Yen and 24,900Yen. The 12GB flash memory model will not be released in Japan.
