Battleship becomes a first person shooter
With this summer’s movie ‘Battleship’ which is based off the board game with the same name come the expected video game based on the movie and instead of being a strategy game like its board game it will be a first person shooter.
Battleship is developed by Double Helix Games and will be published by Activision. The video game will act as a stand-alone story from Universal Pictures’ movie; the game will supposedly offer a blend of strategic naval command and first person action gameplay.
In Battleship you will be playing as elite demolitions specialist Cole Mathis as he clashes against an aquatic-based extraterrestrial peril in the sand and sea of the beautiful Hawaiian archipelago.
In Activision’s press release David Oxford, Activision Publishing gave some background to the game by saying “Inspired by the film’s exciting action and stunning backdrop, the game is next-gen naval warfare that thrusts players into the middle of humanity’s last stand against an unfamiliar menace.”
Activision has released 5 news screenshots for the game which can be seen below.
Battleship will be available for Xbox 360 and PS3 in April (Europe) and May (North America). Also there will be uniquely designed versions for the Wii, 3DS and DS which will be developed by Magic Pocket, these versions have no release date at this time.
