Aion free to play set to launch in Europe on February 28

Gameforge has announced that Aion will be set to switch to free to play on February 28, 2012 in Europe. Also previous subscribers will receive in game currency.

The in game currency will work by every player with remaining play time on their account, who transfers the account to the Gameforge servers before the February 27, 2012will receive six AION Coins (the game’s premium currency) per game day in their account as compensation. The coins can be spent in the item shop from the February 28, 2012 onwards.

Volker Boenigk, Executive Product Director and Andreas Günter, Product Director for AION revealed that Aion will be continued to be updated after it went free to play and that the anticipated 3.0 by saying “We can’t wait for the launch so that we can finally offer the game to a broader gaming audience. In the upcoming months our focus will be on working on update 3.0, which we will be launching in Europe in the spring”.
